Hi, I'm Lauren, a senior software engineer working in InsurTech, building software in a fast-paced, regulated industry that still leaves room for good design.
I started out in web design and creative production, moved into reviewing and directing UI design decisions as a team lead, and then fully into engineering. I'm still design-literate today, regularly reviewing and shaping UI/UX work for practising product designers.
Most recently I've been contributing to the architecture of a greenfield AI product on AWS, including Bedrock AgentCore, API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB and ALB, to name a few.
Working across both disciplines means I bring a user-focused mindset, with strong UX and accessibility instincts built in from years of design-to-code delivery.

A privacy-first GERD and reflux symptom tracker, built with Expo and a local-only SQLite database. Currently in development, with the core architecture and Home screen built end-to-end.
An app that conjures a unique ghost story for wherever you're standing, grounded in real local history pulled from Wikipedia. Hold the button, watch it build, and the story streams in live. Designed and mocked up in Figma, then iterated in Claude Design ahead of build. In development.
A gamified way to put your phone down at night. Lock yourself out from a bedtime you set, a bit like Forest but for sleep, and a nocturnal creature companion rewards you the longer you stay off your phone. In development.
Experience
Core engineer on a nine-person team building a greenfield AI Agent API on AWS, taken from inception to Beta in ten months and now live with its first client. I own the test harness end to end, architecture, front-end and the CI/CD pipeline that tests, deploys and releases it, and helped cut deployment time by 56% through an AI-first development approach. Earlier I worked on CDL's company-wide UI Kit, a React/TypeScript/Storybook design system now used across the business.
Progressed from Senior Frontend Developer to Lead in eight months, managing a team of four and mentoring designers with technical guidance. Owned design critique across Simply Be and Jacamo while staying hands-on with build, delivering responsive, WCAG-compliant experiences under tight deadlines.
Full-cycle design and development for NBrown Group's brands, averaging 4–5 web builds and 4–6 email campaigns a week. Built a modular email code library that cut build times by 75% and became a mandatory part of company-wide induction.
Learned the craft of designing and building responsive email campaigns tested across mail clients with Litmus, producing one to two revenue-driving campaigns daily. Mentored and trained new starters as the team grew.
